What An Awesome Gal!
Can you say
HUGE?! Mariah is a HUGE, Gorgeous, spayed, Husky Mix with wolf bloodlines. She was born in July 2001. We have had her since
she was just a puppy.
Mariah is
a gentle giant. She is very affectionate, easygoing, and gets along well with both children and other dogs. Mariah likes to
lay down by her food bowl as she eats her meals. She takes her time eating and nibbles away until she’s finished.
Mariah has
a lovely singing voice reminiscent of her wolf ancestors. She howls with sirens and out sings the other dogs if they begin
a neighborhood chorus. She doesn’t howl all the time but she will sing her song as you drive out of the driveway as
if to say, “Goodbye and be safe!”
Mariah is
a bit shy at first, but will love you dearly once she gets to know you. She doesn’t like a hose bath and doesn’t
like having her body brushed, but she will let you brush her neck, face, and chest without squirming too much.
Mariah does
develop a very heavy winter coat that she starts shedding off in early spring and continues to shed for several months.
Due to her
wolf heritage, Mariah actually prefers sleeping outside in her den-like “cave.” We built her a large, custom condo
where she can snuggle inside in the winter and lie on top under a larger covered shelter in the summer.
Mariah has
been guilty of catching the neighbor’s rooster and keeping it as a hunting trophy. She is a great bird and mouse catcher
for her size and will save them for you as a precious gift. We also know she does not like cats…..
Mariah has
always been free to roam her large, shady, fenced in yard with her two doggie buddies. We feel it would be a crime against
nature to coop up such a majestic creature in a small space.
Mariah has
been loved and well cared for her entire life. Unfortunately, due to a drastic job change and an interstate move, she now
needs a new home and a new family.
This dog
is located in Spartanburg, SC. Adoption Application, Vet Reference, and Re-Homing fee apply. A fenced yard
is an absolute requirement.

Meet Roxie:
She is a 2 ½ year old, 40 lb +/-, spayed female, Border Collie mix. We have had Roxie since she was just a puppy. She
has that silky Border collie coat with just a little white to accent her beauty.
Roxie is very playful. She gets along well with other dogs and does not even mind sharing her food. We’re unsure
of how she would get along with a cat. Roxie is housetrained and very obedient; however, here she has lived her whole life
outdoors in our large, shady, fenced in yard. She also has a large, custom condo, where she has shelter from the weather.
Due to her breed, Roxie does shed and will need daily maintenance grooming.
Like most Border Collies, Roxie is very smart and learns new tricks and lessons easily. She is a fun-loving girl who
loves to run and play. She is wonderful with kids but may get a little too excited around smaller children, so older kids
would probably be best.
Roxie loves to cuddle, be petted, stroked, and loved. She never wants to attention to stop. She is happy all the time
but does not like to be alone. She becomes very sad and will cry. She needs people or other dogs for company.
Roxie has been loved and well cared for her entire life. Unfortunately, due to a drastic job change and an interstate
move, she now needs a new home and a new family.
This dog is located in Spartanburg, SC. Adoption Application, Vet Reference, and Re-Homing fee apply. A fenced yard
is an absolute requirement.

Looking for a Purbreed Dog?
Then check out your local shelter.....
Over 80% of the dogs who come through the local shelters
and humane society's are purebred dogs.
Life happens, people move, folks die, financial circumstances
change, and many times these dogs end up in shelters with no hope of rescue simply because most folks have no idea they
are there.
Tia, the purebred Chihuahua above, came into rescue from
the Newberry County shelter in Newberry, SC. She was scared to death, had a large inguinal hernia, and had heartworms. We
brought her into our rescue, had her spay surgery and her hernia repair operation, then had her heartworms treated. Now she
is healthy and happy and living the pampered life this tiny Chihuahua was meant to live.
Then just last weekend, we rescued two tiny purebred Shih
tzus. Their owner had taken them to the vet to be put to sleep. Apparently, both dogs had serious skin infections that he
could not afford to treat. So instead of surrendering them to the fate of a county run shelter, he decided to make the
most humane choice and have them euthanasized at his vet's office.
But thanks to the caring folks at the vet's office, these
girls were saved. They asked the owner if they could find these dogs a rescue would he be willing to let them live. He agreed,
much to his relief, and the two girls came into our rescue.
Na Na and Bootsie are now being fostered by Paddy Newell
with Shih tzu & Prescious Paws Rescue in Springfield, VA. As soon as their skin conditions are treated and cleared, they
will be available for adoption.

Meet
Chester
This
is Chester. He is a 8 year old, neutered male rough coat, purebred Jack Russell Terrier.
This
little guy was taken to the vet by his owner to be euthanized. She said he had lost all control of his bodily functions. Thankfully,
my vet decided that rather than euthanize the dog on her word, he would keep Chester in a kennel and watch him for a few days.
While the dog was confined, the vet caught a urine sample. When tested, he found Chester had struvite crytsals in his urine
thus causing the poor little fella to have to urinate frequently.
Now
Chester is on a Prescription food specifically formulated to dissolve the urinary crystals. Now he is happy, healthy, and
whole! The only restriction being that he will need to stay on a special diet of Prescription c/d food for the rest of
his life. (This food is not terribly expensive and is available at any vet's office. Chester eats about a cupful twice
a day).
In
the Meantime, Chester needed a place to go so that he would be "Out if Harm's Way." So we have taken this little
jewel into foster care.
Chester
is about 20 lbs. He is impeccably housetrained. This little guy loves everyone and never meets a stranger. According
to the vet tech who helped me get him to safety, Chester loves to play ball, he especially loves men, and was in a home with
three small boys. He also gets along with all 11 of his inside foster siblings.
As
a 8 year old, Chester is still spunky and energetic but not hyper or mischievious in the least. He is a sweet lapdog who is
simply a joy to be around. Chester doesn't chew on things or bother anything around the house. He does love to eat, so
whoever adopts him will have to be careful not to overfeed him.
If
you are interested in Chester, please contact Melinda McMillion at heart4rescue@wmconnect.com.
You will be asked to complete and return a Potential Home Questionnaire and provide 2 personal references. A vet reference
will also be required.
This
dog is located in Spartanburg, SC. You must be able to drive here to pick
her up in person. No transport or shipping can or will be arranged.
His
adoption fee is $175. Please check out our explanation of adoption fees on the bottom this homepage.

How
Do I Love Thee...
TO MY DOG(S):
How do I love thee? Let
me count the ways...
I love thee agreeably -
enough to let your stinky dog hide on the bed after a run through damp leaves, mud and slug infested gardens.
I love thee steadfastly
- enough to devote a year to raising you from a wobbly speck into a strong healthy adult (who promptly attempts to seize control).
I love thee passionately
- despite your repeated efforts to probe my ears, eyes and mouth with the same tongue you use for various other atrocities.
I love thee well - despite
the amazing odors you produce.
I love thee deeply - though
you use me as a napkin at every opportunity.
I love thee madly - despite
the various bodily functions you have performed at inappropriate moments - in inappropriate places.
I love thee constantly
- despite the dog "bladder curfew" I have lived by for many years.
I love thee truly - despite
the "doggie land mines" hidden in the grass.
I love thee absolutely
- because you never (well, hardly ever) hog the remote control.
I love thee gratefully
- because you stay by my side (or on my side).
I love thee devotedly -
more than clean carpeting, clothing, furniture, floors or walls.
I love thee bravely - enough
to battle the indomitable flea on your behalf.
I love thee monetarily
- enough to put the vet's children through college.
I love thee openly - I
will bear any embarrassment for your furry sake.
I love thee totally -more
than free time, excess cash or a predictable life.

HERE IN THIS HOUSE
I will never know the loneliness I hear in the barks of the otherdogs 'out
there.' I can sleep soundly, assured that when I wake my world will not have changed. I will never know hunger, or the
fear of not knowing if I'll eat. I will not shiver in the cold, or grow weary from the heat. I will feel the sun's heat,
and the rain's coolness, and be allowed to smell all that can reach my nose. My fur will shine, and never be dirty or
matted. Here in this house...
There will be an effort to communicate with me on my level. I
will be talked to and, even if I don't understand, I can enjoy the warmth of the words. I will be given a name so that
I may know who I am among many. My name will be used in joy, and I will love the sound of it! Here in this house...
I
will never be a substitute for anything I am not. I will never be used to improve peoples' images of themselves. I will
be loved because I am who I am, not someone's idea of who I should be. I will never suffer for someone's anger, impatience,
or stupidity. I will be taught all the things I need to know to be loved by all. If I do not learn my lessons well,
they will look to my teacher for blame. Here in this house...
I can trust arms that hold, hands
that touch... knowing that, no matter what they do, they do it for the good of me. If I am ill, I will be doctored. If
scared, I will be calmed. If sad, I will be cheered. No matter what I look like, I will be considered beautiful and thought
to be of value. I will never be cast out because I am too old, too ill, too unruly, or not cute enough. My life is a
responsibility, and not an afterthought. I will learn that humans can almost, sometimes, be as kind and as fair as dogs.
Here
in this house...
I will belong. I will be home.

Meet Tiger:
He is an 85 pound, neutered male, purebred chocolate Lab. He was born on
Easter Sunday, April 2, 2000.
Tiger has always been an outside dog living in his sister, Cocoa, in our large, shady, fenced in yard. He does not
like rain or snow and will stay in his homemade "condo," a large denlike shelter we constructed for him as a shelter from
the elements.
Tiger is a happy-go-lucky fella who greets you with a toy in his mouth as a gift, especially at meal times.
He loves baseballs and eating the hide off of them, so he needs to be watched during play so he doesn't actually eat his toys!
Tiger loves to play fetch. He will play as long as you will throw. He has no bad habits that we are aware of.
Tiger gets along very well with other dogs. However, he has been known to chase cats. Honestly, we fear the
worst if he were to actually catch one......
Tiger is a bit overweight and inhales his food like a vacuum cleaner, so we feed him smaller meals twice a
day to avoid any of the gastrointestinal complications common to larger and older dogs.
Tiger has always lived with his little sister, Cocoa,
and would very much like to remain with her since they have never been apart since birth.
Tiger and Cocoa have been loved and well cared
for their entire lives. Unfortunately, due to a drastic job change and an interstate move, our babies now need a new home
and a new family. We would prefer to adopt them together.
This dog is located in Spartanburg, SC. Adoption
Application, Vet Reference, and Re-Homing fee apply. A fenced yard is an absolute requirement.

Meet Cocoa, she is an 80 lb, spayed female, purebred chocolate
Lab. Cocoa was born on
Easter Sunday, April 2, 2000.
Cocoa is a survivor. Her mom had already given birth to her six
siblings. We assumed she was done, but 6 hours later Cocoa
was born. She was not breathing, but I was able to do CPR on her and revive her.
Cocoa has never left her brother, Tiger's, side. She is very polite and she loves to play ball. Cocoa is not as big as her mother and brother. She only barks when it's time to eat, and
she would eat all day long if you let her. Cocoa does not
fight over her dish. If she gets bored, she loves to chew on big carrots!
Cocoa does not like being left alone. She becomes very sad and will howl and cry. She loves people and adores attention.
Cocoa may be a great house dog if she was with people, but
we don't really know since she has lived her whole live outdoors in our large, shady, fenced in yard.
Cocoa does not like rain or snow and will stay in her custom condo, denlike shelter that is very roomy and cozy.
She actually cuddles with her brother, Tiger.
Cocoa does not like cats, so she is limited to other doggie company.
She
loves routine and becomes uneasy if her schedule is disrupted.
Cocoa has always lived with her big brother, Tiger, and would very much like to remain with him since they have never
been apart since birth.
Cocoa and Tiger have been loved and well cared for their entire lives. Unfortunately, due to a drastic job change
and an interstate move, our babies now need a new home and a new family. We would prefer to adopt them together.

dog is located in Spartanburg, SC. Adoption Application, Vet
Reference, and Re-Homing fee apply. A fenced yard is an absolute requirement.

“JT”
This is “JT,”
he was rescued earlier this month from the CherokeeCounty “Shelter”
in Gaffney, SC. He came into
our rescue covered in ticks, full of tapeworms and hookworms, and tested high heartworm positive. He had to be neutered and
vaccinated then treated for all the internal and external parasites.
We believe
“JT” to be about a year and a half old, and despite his rough start in life, he is now a happy, healthy, loving
little guy. “JT” has tons of energy, he gets along with all the other dogs here both large and small, he eats
like a small horse, and plays like there is no off switch. He is smart and exuberant, affectionate and sweet. (I personally
think he’d make a great small agility dog).
“JT”
is not potty trained in the least and doesn’t have any manners whatsoever. He is by no means a delicate
wallflower. He weighs about 15 lbs and is made of sturdy stuff. His multicolored red coloring is simply gorgeous; the shading
goes from a deep red on his legs and face to a light tan over his shoulders (in the shape of angel wings) with a red stripe
down his back. His neat, short, clay colored coat shows no dirt whatsoever!
This little
guy is what he is, a blank slate, no holds barred, no quirks or hidden agendas. He’s just “JT,” flat out
and honest.
For more information,
please contact Melinda McMillion at heart4rescue@wmconnect.com. “JT” is located in Spartanburg, SC. Vet reference,
home visit, and re-homing fee apply. A fenced yard is required.

Noah, once again a Survivor.........
This is Noah. He was dumped by his owners the week of Christmas.
He wasn't dumped at the pound, he was dumped on a country road to fend for himself.
Thankfully, like the Noah of the Bible, this little fella was
a survivor too. He defied the odds of being hit by a car or abused by strangers and found his way instead to a local dog rescuer's
home. There he was welcomed with open arms, lots of nutritious food, and a warm place to lay his travel weary head.
Noah was extremely shy at first, but once he learned the feel
of a caring hand, he blossomed into a sweet, loveable, little guy who now LOVES belly rubs and snuggle hugs.
We believe Noah to be about 3 years old. He weighs about 30
pounds and looks to be a Shepherd/Corgi mix. He gets along with other dogs both large and small, male and female. Noah has
the bark of a much larger dog, (so he could warn off intruders), but has the maintenance and upkeep of a smaller fella. He
is also large enough to get up and down by himself, but small enough to still snuggle and lay beside you on the couch.
Noah is understandably a little shy of strangers at first, but
once he realizes you're there to pay him some attention, he warms up quickly.
If you are interested in adopting this fun loving little doggie,
please contact his foster mom at heart4rescue@wmconnect.com for more information. This dog is located in Spartanburg, SC.
Blackie is PomRescue.com's latest rescue from the Greenville Humane Society (Greenville, SC). When
his rescuer, Elaine Harris, brought him home, his skin was raw from the fleas. His mouth, face, and eyes were infected by
the mass of gunk stuck to the roof of his mouth. His nails were extremely long and his legs were stiff and wobbly. After
medicated baths, removal of the cummulative mess from his mouth, a dose of antibiotics, good food, and some vitamins - PomRescue.com
is happy to report he is much improved! Thanks everybody for your prayers and kind words. We were not really
sure he would live through the night and now we hear him in the next room barking for MORE FOOD!!!
See the video below for Blackie's first day in rescue.

To My Foster Mom
There I sat, alone and afraid, You got a call and came right to my aid. You bundled me up with blankets and
love. And, when I needed it most, you gave me a hug. I learned that the world was not all that scary and cold. That
sometimes there is someone to have and to hold. You taught me what love is, you helped me to mend. You loved me and
healed me and became my first friend. And just when I thought you'd done all you do, There came along not one new lesson,
but two. First you said, "Sweetheart, you're ready to go. I've done all I can, and you've learned all I know." Then
you bundled me up with a blanket and kiss. Along came a new family, they even have kids! They took me to their home,
forever to stay. At first I thought you sent me away. Then that second lesson became perfectly clear. No matter how
far, you will always be near. And so, Foster Mom, you know I've moved on. I have a new home, with toys and a lawn. But
I'll never forget what I learned that first day. You never really give your fosters away. You gave me these thoughts
to remember you by. We may never meet again, and now I know why. You'll remember I lived with you for a time. I may
not be yours, but you'll always be mine. - Author Unknown
